Whatever happened to the “talkin cure”, that doesn’t rely on drugs for a cure for mental illness?

It’s always difficult to trust “impressions” but I have always been impressed with the rate at which Shrinks adopt new drugs. The new atypical antipsychotics just came in a wave. And of course all the patients are on Medicaid. Any correlation? In our state 8 of the top ten Medicaid pharma costs are psychiatric.
Talkin? No, you just see your shrink now for refills.
