How nurse practitioners are able to spend 4 hours with patients

In most cases, NPs are salaried and not tied to productivity. Thus, they are free to spend hours per visit. If their compensation structure changes to a productivity model, the rushed visits will start to increase.

In the group practice I left all the PAs, NPs and MDs had the same schedule of one patient every 15 minutes. We were all salaried and the powers that be (TPTB) were going to get every last cent they could. It was an equal opportunity beating!

And then NPs normally spend six hours dictating the record of that one visit. NPs give most MTs migraines. They give me apoplexy.
