After working in academic medicine, Dr. Sheehan started a solo private practice in Omaha, Nebraska. She has particular interest and expertise in reproductive psychiatry and psycho-oncology. She also works extensively with other professionals, including medical professionals.
Dr. Sheehan is passionate about medical ethics and served as the clinical chair of the ethics committee at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is active in advocacy, and together with the growing voice of physicians in Nebraska, she is working to help protect patients from bills that would limit their access to medical care and discriminate against minorities and underrepresented groups. She fights together with advocacy groups, including Nebraska Alliance for Physician Advocacy, Nebraska Healthcare Workers For Reproductive Rights, and Campaign for a Healthy Nebraska.
Dr. Sheehan is a member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (ACLP), and the American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS).

Nebraska has taken another step towards effectively banning abortion and criminalizing the practice of medicine. I want to try to clarify that this bill is not supported by the medical community.
