Olympic doctors

A fascinating behind-the-scenes look at practicing medicine in the Olympics:

Canada’s Olympic physicians have all been granted temporary medical licences in China so they can order tests and prescriptions while they are there; the logistics of simply ensuring patients get appropriate medical care can be difficult. None of the Canadian physicians have been given hospital privileges. That means that although Beijing has hospitals and medical staff ready to help out in emergencies, if a serious medical problem arises the patient will likely be flown back to Canada.
