A pregnant woman has chicken pox leading to pneumonia. She is now suing because more aggressive treatment was not offered:

Riddle was diagnosed by physician’s assistant Victor Dunn, a member of the Emergency Physicians Health Group at the time, as having chicken pox, according to court documents.

After consulting with her obstetrician, Randall King, the decision was made to send Riddle home without any testing or medication, but with guidelines for future treatment if the illness progressed.

Several days later on Nov. 2, Riddle was admitted to the hospital after she had difficulty breathing and a high fever.

Riddle was diagnosed with a strain of pneumonia associated with chicken pox and taken to Norton Hospital in Louisville, according to court documents.

Her son, Logan, was born prematurely Nov. 19, and has since suffered from problems related to “his mother’s condition when he was in utero and his premature birth,” according to court documents.
