A blessing for health care workers

As winter approaches and life slows down, it’s a time to pause and reflect on all everyone has had to endure these past few years. To those involved in health care, it has been an especially difficult time… a test of both resolution and inner strength. With my hope that all will see brighter days ahead, I offer the following as my means of giving thanks to all of you who have worked so hard in tending to the sick and honoring the oaths you have taken.

***

Twinkle, twinkle little stars …. perched so high in the nighttime sky. Standing here, in the darkness and quiet, only my thoughts are moving about.

Much to ponder in the still of this night. Memories crawl forth, both joyful and bleak. Family and friends were lost to a stealthy foe. Tears shed, hopes dashed. Voices silenced, candles blown out.

In the darkness, there is light still to be found … special people standing beside me, giving comfort and support. Hands extended, hearts open, help steady the uncertain ride.

Beacons to guide me in the darkest of nights. Healing my body, healing my spirit, I give them my thanks and my wish for peace to wash over their lives.

And so, on this starry night, I look to the heavens above, offering a prayer that all will receive the healing they seek as I stand here in the quietness and darkness of night.

***

I wish you joy and a sense of fulfillment in your lives. May we all have the ability to pause and count the blessings that have been laid before us.
