  1. Steroid Shots Ease Carpal Tunnel. Patients with carpal tunnel syndrome reported fewer symptoms several months after receiving steroid injections, but most still opted for surgery within a year to relieve persistent pain.
  2. Ear Infections: Treat All Kids. All children younger than 2 with acute otitis media diagnosed according to current American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines should receive antibiotics.
  3. Glass Ceiling Holds for Women in Medicine. Despite a closing gender gap in salaries for many professions, male physicians still make more than their female counterparts, and the discrepancy may be widening.
  4. Peds to Parents: Don’t Delay Kids’ Flu Shots. Vaccinate children against the flu as soon as possible rather than holding out for the new quadrivalent versions, the American Academy of Pediatrics urged in its annual influenza recommendations.
