I just read Jenny McCarthy's new article on huffpo and it just sad what us out there. Our current use of vaccines is based on level 1A evidence. If we can't agree on their use, I don't know why we are fighting about healthcare. The population would be better off hiring a shaman or homeopath. Vaccines have saved more lives than any aspect of medicine and is second only to sanitation on it's effect on public health. They are safe effective and I have given them to all my children.

Great post Micheal. Many zealously believe that autism has been linked to vaccines or their components, despite the absence of reliable scientific evidence. In fact, the issue has been studied, as pointed out in the post, and no linkage was demonstrated. Autism is a tough disease that deserves our compassion and research dollars. Blaming the vaccine manufacturers won't help a single autistic kid or prevent the disease from occuring. Vaccines represent one of the triumphs of the medical profession.

The anti-vaxers are a a vocal minority.
