Accepted principles of practice still mature over time and are not rAised by electronic communication. It is if anything easier to remain current. A legible organized history and rapid availability of patient information should enhance the quality of care. Unfortunately, the software is not very user friendly. The electronic medical record should facilitate quality care and if a particular system doesn't, the system needs to be changed. I like it, it's fairly easy to use, and it's template driven, replacing our mostly dictated charts. But so far, I can tell that it's capable of capturing far too much data! And generating far too much information. The discharge summary for pharyngitis feels like the syllabus for a class on Crime and Punishment!Rest assured, attorneys will make the most of this.Edwin

We have a brand new EHR system.
