If so, have you learned epidemiology in med school? Have well do you know statistics? Do you know enough to evaluate data from clinical studies? Think about designing clinical studies or analyzing multiple studies?Since when it is oncologists' job? What exactly would oncologists add to this panel exactly? A lot of anecdotal data about survival after diagnosis? Ever heard of lead time bias or overdiagnosis? Do you think you can get this information from anecdotal data that oncologists have? However, I don't think an oncologist would add anything to the outcome. Screening is a primary care provider function. The study is based upon risk/benefit analysis. It is much more valuable to have general internists, family practitioners and nurse practitioners on thie panel. In addition, many on the panel have interest and experience in public health, epidemiology and statistics. I have reviewed the findings of this group and they are very sound and reasonable -- beyond the emotion and politics that has overtaken the public debate, that is. I’ve heard this business about no oncologists being on the panel. However, I don’t think an oncologist would add anything to the outcome. Screening is a primary care provider function.
