KevinMD Live Q&A on health care reform, today at 11:30am Eastern

June 12, 2009

Health reform is rapidly gaining momentum, with details of the proposed plan coming into focus.

Yesterday, The New York Times reported on the AMA’s supposed opposition to the controversial public plan option, which has been the polarizing issue du jour. The AMA has since clarified their views.

I’m opening up a Live Q&A at 11:30am Eastern today to answer your health reform questions. I don’t pretend to be a health policy expert, but I’ve read enough to be informed of the issues, and thought I’d offer a physician’s take on the matter.

You can click on the window below at any time to ask your question. I’ll answer a selected few for as long as time allows.

That is a great idea. I hope some lawmakers will join in on the issue.

Thanks for the great Q&A.

AMIC endorses the Finance Committee’s proposal to promote adherence to appropriateness criteria for imaging services. The designation of nationally recognized, physician-developed appropriateness criteria together with an education and confidential feedback program to report patterns of adherence to those criteria will provide the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) with necessary information to limit inappropriate imaging while maintaining patients’ access to needed imaging services.
