I think that I stopped reading it after the second issue put more emphasis on its political goals than on research. What's worse, many of its scientific articles are so esoteric that they're unusable in practice. Since then, all JAMA issues go straight into the trash without being looked at. I almost can't believe they're this tone deaf - they must live in a little bubble world where everyone sucks up to anyone associated with the mighty JAMA. I strongly suspect this represents the end of DeAngelis' tenure, because JAMA is now a laughingstock. Or at least more of one; along with Lancet and to a lesser extent BMJ and NEJM they've become so enamored with politicalized studies purporting to provide evidence for policies they approve of that a lot of my colleagues don't take them seriously.
