Opening toy packaging can send you to the emergency department

December 16, 2008

Don’t you hate clear plastic “clamshell” toy packaging that’s impossible to open?

Turns out you’re not alone. So-called “wrap rage” is a growing cause of ED visits, caused by those who futilely attempt to open packaging with a variety of sharp instruments.

Luckily Amazon.com, among other sensible companies, feels the pain, and is starting to adopt “frustration-free” packaging.

That day can’t come soon enough.

Last year for Christmas I bought one of the specialty tools to open those clamshell packages…..

Guess how it was packaged?

You know what I hate? I hate those plastic-wrapped twist ties that they strap toys to that take hours to undo. I understand theft protection but please come up with a better system. Don’t get me started on the plastic packaging that has NO easy way to get into them. Hey Santa, all I want for Christmas is the toys already unwrapped. Tell the elves to go easy on the twist ties please! Thanks.
