I bought a Honda 2500W generator a few years ago. It is enough to power my gas furnace and a few light, tv refrigerator etc. Obviously you have to rotate the items that you have pluged in. I live in WI. so in the summer I use it for the frig and in the winter the furnace gets priority. It is nice to have a generator when these ice storms hit.
