Assisted suicide, broadcast on television

December 10, 2008

Is this documentary going too far?

A British television station is broadcasting a documentary showing the death of a 59-year old with degenerative motor neuron disease. He died by assisted suicide in Switzerland in 2006.

How much is too much? Will the next step be showing such acts live, as the next, extreme, form of reality television?

Sadly, this has already happened. A teenager in Florida committed suicide “live” and apparently those “watching” did nothing to help.
