Fecal transplants have been mentioned as a possible cure for C Difficile colitis.

How do fecal transplants work? Val Jones interviews a gastroenterologist on the procedure, who notes that the data is purely observational, and that although it has potential, “we have to temper our enthusiasm” as it’s “simply not ready for prime time.”

I think they just did a fecal transplant on Greys Anatomy. Because of a spat, the husband didn’t want to poop for his wife.

Did you ever read “The Making of a Surgeon”? It was a JFK-era, macho I’ll-cut-anything account of training at Bellevue; much funnier in retrospect than was probably intended at the time. IIRC, the author recounts a classmate who has a patient whose gut flora has been wiped out by abx, and who restores the patient to normalcy by secretly given him feces in chocolate milk.
