Funding to biotech companies are at the lowest level in a decade, with five companies filing for bankruptcy over the past month.

The economy is hurting biotech companies Those that are surviving are looking at a very uncertain future, as “Wall Street won’t finance them, and the pharmaceutical industry can’t buy all of them.”

This affects the research of new and promising treatments, which depends on the willingness of investors.

It’s another way patients are getting hurt in the grim economic climate.
