Can transparency of medical errors be a selling point?

Prospective residents to Boston’s BI-Deaconess hospital are inquiring about the widespread media attention that the institution is garnering, stemming from their unparalleled transparency of medical errors.

CEO Paul Levy writes that this is a reason why medical students should choose the hospital for training:

We promise a blame-free environment in which all participants (including trainees) are treated respectfully and as part of a team devoted to eliminating preventable medical errors.

If I were choosing a residency, that statement would resonate with me.
