New hospitalist advice

Hospital medicine is the hot new field for new graduates. Incomes are rising, demand is high, and much of the work is similar to an internal medicine residency, so there is a built-in comfort level.

Here are some good tips to get started (via Dr. RW), and it boils down to common-sense. Be nice. Expect to be sued. Document well. Know when a patient is sick or *sick* with a single glance.

In fact, you’ll do well if this advice is applied to any medical specialty.
