This patient was lucky, and avoided a neurosurgical emergency. Others can prevent tragedy from wearing a simple $20 bike helmet.

As of now, there are still no convincing prospective studies of the efficacy of helmets. Much of the ‘evidence’ used to promote helmet usage is no more than the casual anecdote.

That’s like arguing bullet proof vests don’t save lives

Now now, both you and I know that that isn’t a fair comparison.

Surely you’ve seen or heard of more cyclists who died from motor vehicle accidents with their helmets on, than people who have died from gunshots despite wearing a bulletproof vest?
