The Cleveland Browns want to restrict Kellen Winslow to discuss his staph infection.
Are they allowed to do this? Shouldn’t a player have the right to discuss his medical history if he so wishes? Robert Center thinks so:
The team wants to restrict the player’s right to discuss his own illness. We know that staph infections are a major problem in sports. Winslow certainly has a right to share this information with the press. He had the infection . . .. . . Kellen Winslow has the right to share his medical problem. He might argue that his disclosure might help his teammates.

This seems curious, especially given the NBA example of Magic Johnson’s HIV status.
