A commenter sees a big role for midlevels and phone nurses with computer protocols yet personally goes to a cardiologist for primary care and gets "corporate physicals" which are usually pathgnomonic for unnecessary medical screening for the worried well (presumably the midlevels are for the hoi polloi).<br/><br/>Watch the specialty referrals climb even higher as these specialist run medical homes send out every skin lesion to a dermatologist, every vague GI symptom to a gastroenterologist, etc. The comments at her blog are interesting for a primary care doc to read.
