What a sad commentary: “First, the obesity excuse is not a new one for condemned death row inmates. It has been used before and is now an incentive for these guys to pig out.”
Like Dr. Farrago, I wonder why the prison gives him so much food in the first place.

In this day and age, that chap does not even seem THAT obese-it is pretty routine to start IVs on 300 pound range people-I see it in the ED everyday.
This is easily solved.
For those who are too fat an alternative method of execution can be designated – a more humane method like say – firing squad.
The fact that this guy, who took the lives of not one, but two young girls is getting any air play at all disgusts me.
Sounds like an argument for administrative management loaf to me.
1. I bet I could get a peripheral on him. He’s 300 pounds lighter than some folks I’ve stuck.
2. EJ? Cutdown? Central line? There are options.
3. Take him off his meds and put him on a diet.
4. When the guy suffers a massive coronary or dies from some other obesity related disease and nobody does anything because no one can get an IV I guess the state will be off the hook for not providing medical care!
