Why did the GOP alienate doctors?

Senate GOP aide: “We’re going to get killed, and we’ll have no help from the doctors . . . Why the hell did we fight this as a party? You took a constituency that’s very friendly and just flushed it down the toilet.”

For reasons that are obvious (the Politico being a biased news source), the fact that John McCain did not vote at all is not mentioned.
Oh, you fools, to have supported the Republicans and Bush Administration thinking they cared about healthcare. Medicare advantage is a joke that doesn’t even make sense: how is a 13% subsidy supposed to save money unless it comes on our backs, ie lower reimbursements to doctors.
To all of you doctors out there who vote Republican: wake up! Work with Obama on a real solution to our healthcare problems.

You thought the GOP was working with you on tort “reform” because they cared about you? Really? Are you guys truly this dense? I lean Republican and even I knew what was going on.
They were protecting their insurance constituency. You guys were nothing but semi-sympathetic face men for that movement. They couldn’t very well put Hank Greenberg up there to lament the state of the insurance industry when the stock market declined, could they?
It’s amazing how easily seemingly intelligent people are duped by the political process.

Hopefully doctors will start to realize that they have no business voting republican, religious and philosophical beliefs notwithstanding.
