A powerful ally, they are

July 16, 2008

Congress overrides the Bush veto of the Medicare bill. We get an 18-month reprieve from physician payment cuts, then a 20+ percent cut is due in 2010.

At that time, the AARP will grow stronger and continue to ally with physicians in blocking any Medicare cuts.

A powerful force indeed.

Kevin, both political parties stink on this issue, Democrats as badly as Republicans. Don’t forget it was Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, who ditched the compromise bill and used physicians as pawns to embarass Republicans. So am I now supposed to say thanks to a party who’ll screw us in the long run if they win the White House? Or am I supposed to vote for the Republican who couldn’t be bothered to show up for the vote, and says he would have voted against the bill anyway? Great stinking choice. And the continued promises to fix the SGR formula continue to remain unfulfilled.

ya know, it’s true: despite being slow and dangerous behind the wheel, senior citizens can serve a purpose.
