A Hail Mary over the holiday week? “It’s clear that Reid believes the pressure from the powerful doctors’ and senior citizens’ lobby over the July 4 recess will be strong enough to convince at least one more Republican to cross over and support the legislation.”

We physicians have every right to be outraged and let out our anger. The only problem is that we as a group don’t do much about our anger except rant and rave.
The Republicans (especially Bush) does not care how their politcs affect physicians or seniors.
We need to take action. I suggest that we scare the pants off the republicans by really supporting the exodus of one of the most aggregious of them, Senator Mitch Mcconnell of Kentucky. He is up for relection this year . Please read this link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21880045/
And then donate to his opponents campaign here: https://services.myngp.com/ngponlineservices/contribution.aspx?X=+S+lT4BliBy98+KNKz98wPTKKEyJwoK8nzZlvQzeqQY=
I am a republican from New York and prior to 20 minutes ago did not know who Lunsford was(I probably should say ex-republican). I hope all physicians from across take action and oppose those who are interested in hurting seniors and their doctors in order to pad the wallet of a few republicans.
I, for one, am tired of the annual dog and pony show involving physician reimibursement and Medicare. Physicians are the only group I know who are routinely asked to accept a cost of living decrease. I hope they do cut fees ten percent across the board. Will America’s physicians finally get off their collective duffs and get outraged enough to make a difference? Only time will tell.
I echo Doc99’s comments. Let’s say the 10% cut goes through. How many doctors will actually drop Medicare?
It will not hurt most specialists as much as it does the internists who are already super squeezed, miserable, and searching feverishly for alternative forms of employment.
I, for one, will be one of the first to drop Medicare, but I remember the angst associated with the first plan I dropped years ago. It is not an easy thing to do.
This will be an interesting 2 weeks.
