This should be instituted nationwide:
As of June 1st Northeast Georgia Medical Center starts a new policy in which patients will be medically evaluated to determine if they have a true emergency condition. If they don’t they will be given the choice of following up with primary care or paying $150 up front.

What’s one or two non-emegergency patients throwing up “chocolate” on the waiting room floor, while orderlies mop around their writhing forms.
Well, yeah, that’s extreme. But i I see, in that setup, a lot of folks with missed emergent conditions ending up in a bad way because they are dismissed improperly.
On the surface it seems like a very solid idea, but I wonder how (if at all) it would be affected by EMTALA.
