RSS, subscriptions, and Twitter

May 30, 2008

There are several ways to follow the posts on Kevin, M.D. Apologies to those who find this tutorial too basic.

RSS, subscriptions, and Twitter
RSS
is the main way. Standing for “Really Simply Syndication”, RSS is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.

You need a reader to view RSS. I suggest Google Reader.

Subscribe using any feed reader!

If you already use a feed reader, this handy “Subscribe” button makes it easy to subscribe to my feed.

Twitter
is a popular micro-blogging service. The video below will go over the basics.

Once you’ve signed up, subscribe to my Twitter feed and you can receive posts shortly after they are published.
