Breast biopsies and reality

Studies show that repeating a mammogram in 6 months is a “safe” option for benign breast findings.

In today’s climate of liability and patient demand (just take a look at the comments), who will listen to that recommendation?

Actually, I see this approach being taken quite often by the radiologists to whom I refer. I think it is an approach that comes with experience, and speaks to a radiologist who is confident in their ability to distinguish benign frm malignant. Even in such practices, however, most biopsies done tend to be benign.
