Insulating your practice from Big Pharma
Concupiscent Curds: "I still fool myself sometimes thinking I've sterilized my practice from Big Pharma. But I haven't and I'm not sure I could completely. I am always on guard, though, against them trying to cozy up to me. In fact, one rep came close to actually becoming a friend until I realized what was going on and learned that a key lesson in the education of a rep is to befriend the doctor."Comments:
There is an idiotic bill pending in the La. legislature to require docs to give samples before writing a RX. That would make everydoctor dependent on drug reps.
Do you read any medical journals? Do you read this blog?
By industry sponsorship, the discount on those far exceeds the value of any consideration being criticized.
Everyone who has failed to cancel their subscription, and not sent their journals a check for $500 a year to cancel the subsidy of sponsorship is a hypocrite. Anyone who has watched a high production TV show, and failed to reimburse the producers for their cost subsidy is a hyprocrite.
The NYT must start criticizing the appalling performance of the Saks Fifth Avenue stores before criticizing doctors for accepting a sandwich.

One of my detailers is a member of my church, and several detailers have sent their family members to me for surgical and medical care. Go ahead and try to insulate yourself. You will have to be downright rude and antisocial.
