“What’s more, there are 145 board-certified plastic surgeons within 60 miles of his offices in Schererville and Valparaiso, Ind., and twice as many doctors offering face-lifts and nose jobs.”
Plastic surgery has the fewest training spots of any program. Yet there are 145 plastic surgeons within 60 miles of some no-name town of Valparaiso, Indiana?
When is this myth of a doctor shortage going to die? Its clear that there is no doctor shortage in this country.
Every month, the NY Times has headlines of DOCTOR SHORTAGE! yet they run articles the next day about stories where doctors (even plastic surgeons) have to advertise on the web in order to draw a sufficient patient load. Where’s the doctor shortage at? Please tell me.
I agree. There is not a doctor shortage, but a primary care physician shortage.
