Paramedic suing the patient?

March 15, 2008

BBC: “An elderly couple say they are distressed as an ambulance worker wants to sue them after falling during a call to their Lincolnshire home.

The technician fell over on 82-year-old Joan Boardman’s driveway in Louth as he went to fetch a stretcher.”

UK-based Random Acts of Reality comments.

In the US, settled law prevents such lawsuits. It is called the Fireman’s Rule.

http://www.atlantainjurylawblog.com/injury-law-firemans-rule-applies-to-emts-in-georgia.html

1. I knew and accepted the risk when accepting the job.

2. I get workmen’s comp for injuries at work.

3. The taxpayer has compensated me for my injuries at work by the above. I would be collecting twice if allowed to sue.

4. I could take the low salary and tremendous stress. However, I become a billionaire suing every property owner for every scare, scrape, and strain. These could come from criminals, from defects in the property, from accidents.

5. I would be taking pics of sidewalk defects for my lawsuit instead of chasing a bad guy.
