Doctors are not the only ones feeling the crunch:
Like many ob/gyns, midwives are looking to cut back to just gynecological care, or are caring for mothers during pregnancy, then referring them to another practitioner for labor and delivery in a move to lower their insurance rates.

Problems for NY midwives? How about the NY OBs are paying $150,000 to $250,000 a year and facing massive increases PLUS a $50,000 surcharge this year.
It is amazing that midwives have survived as long as they have in New York. The head of the NY State Assembly is a notorious personal injury lawyer who has stopped all efforts at reform. No Daubert reforms for NY…just endless vast junk science Cerebral Palsy Hoax payouts. This is the worst area in the USA for obstetrics, except perhaps for Dade and Broward Counties in Florida.
Say a prayer for the NY OBs and midwives. It appears to be all they have going for them.

No problem. Find a lawyer to do the delivery.
