I have to pay to hold a hotel room or a seat on an airline. If the doctor does this in lieu of overbooking, the end result will be better service. I would have no problem doing this at all either as a doctor or as a patient. If it enables the doc to better manage his schedule then I will benefit as a patient. Makes sense to me.
