Adderall, the new weight loss fad

March 26, 2008

ABC News: “According to a report in the New York Daily News on Monday, a number of female celebrities have used prescription Adderall, even if they have not been diagnosed with ADHD. And reports also suggest that some of these starlets have resorted to crushing and snorting these pills as a way to deliver a quicker effect.”

“In someone with ADHD, the drug re-establishes the chemical balance in the brain that is needed for focus and concentration. For these users, the drug is completely safe. But for those using the drug inappropriately, health risks abound.”

I would disagree with this statement. I am under a regimen for ADHD currently and my resting HR hovers around 80 and it raises my systolic and diastolic about 5-10mmHg on a small dosage. The long-term effects on myocardium cannot be good.

This is very distressing news, but it needs to be discussed out in the open. Thank you for posting this important information.
