A warning to P4P gurus. Numbers by itself does not guarantee appropriate care. Robert Centor looks at the recent study which found that lowering blood sugar too aggressively actually increased the risk of death.

I used to work with an ancient old doc who was considered a bit of the flake by the younger guys for persistently saying just that.

The wisdom of experience is still worth something–and always worth more than a “guideline” contaminated by drug company money.
