More problems with “never” events

Decubitus (pressure) ulcer is considered a “never event”.

But it’s not just pressure causing the pressure ulcers. It’s organ failure. Heart failure is not a “never event”. Renal failure is not a “never event”. Why is skin failure a “never event”?

So when will intubating a 90 year old, dialyzing a drug addict, or giving the 4th round of chemo become “never events?”

And after that, how soon until everyone pays out of pocket for the care their loved ones to have?
