Use a Foley cathether – much cheaper, same effect. We use it a lot at our hospital, if there is a sound indication for induction of labor.
On the other hand, if there is a sound indication for induction of labor, the patient belongs in a hospital. Period.
Commenter Leah, at the link, who had forwarded info about the balloon to that blog i the first place, took pains to clarify “natural” as more drug-free (sans oxytocin, or prostaglandins), that it should be used only in a formal health care setting by trained proffesionals.
So it’s not for the home-birth market.
