Cutting physician reimbursements is the worst way to control health care costs. This simply leads to doctors not accepting poor paying plans, worsening physician access, and sending more patients to the emergency room. Massachusetts is about to learn that the hard way:
Jon Kingsdale, PhD, executive director of the Connector Authority, said he doesn’t want Commonwealth Care plans’ physician pay to increase as quickly as Medicaid reimbursement. He suggested that Commonwealth Care plans cut doctor pay 3% to 5% to control costs.

This is also an example of “crowding out” where extremely cheap or so-called free plans cause people to drop their regular coverage.
You will get what you pay for. What Internist or GP in their right mind would sign on to this nightmare?
