The shingles vaccine is a great example of why medicine does not obey &quot;free market&quot; dynamics as frequently espoused by the business community and Republican candidates.  The shingles vaccine is available, it&#039;s good, it&#039;s safe, but it is not covered and costs about 150 dollars.  &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;If people have to pay for preventive care, including vaccines, most will simply choose not to get it.
