Grady hospital is a problem because it was mismanaged.  UPMC is a problem because it was managed too well.  Medical care is a business and falls prey to the same kind of problems other businesses do.  Location is an issue, marketing is an issue, quality is an issue, attracting talent is an issue, referrals are an issue. &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;This works on the micro scale as well.  If you are going to join or open a practice, don&#039;t do it in the ghetto, no matter how much your heart bleeds.  You will waste years of your life giving away your time.  Join or open a practice in the affluent suburbs and don&#039;t accept medicaid.
