Physician versus provider

November 8, 2007

Medicine is an art, and is that something any “provider” can give?

No painter, no matter who hard they try will ever be able to paint the exact same painting, ever. Anne, you are my painting, for which my artistic brush has created, what I believe, to be the best possible picture of health, based my my artistic abilities. You are different from every other person on this earth. You are living art. And a great physician will treat you as their greatest painting ever, every time.

There is no provider of medicine, no matter how many years of practice, that will ever be able to promise you the art of medicine.

I think he’s been listening to his old Joni Mitchell records —

On one live album she tells a story in response to someone in the audience calling out for a certain song, and talks about how no one asked Van Gogh to paint a starry night again

This cr*p sounds exactly like the nonsense that one would expect to hear from an “alternative” provider. “Open yourself to the power of Gaia and shake your juju beads as her healing chirofraud artistic powers heal your chi.”

For all of the damage being done to allopathic medicine by outsiders, it compares little to the damage being done by existing providers. Junk science diagnoses, a lack of a working disciplinary system and eschewing science for bullcr*p “artistry.”
