Virtual colonoscopy

October 4, 2007

Bad news for GI docs and their cash cow colonoscopies. The NEJM with a major study supporting the clinical efficacy of CT colonoscopies.

The lead author of the study, radiologist David Kim, is probably public enemy #1 in the eyes of gastroenterologists now. I expect a lot of rebuttal studies coming soon from the GI community.

Or more likely… GI docs will buy their own machines and read their own studies.

What’s the status of genetic testing of a stool sample for colon cancer?
