Surgeon to the sports star

September 18, 2007

ESPN profiles Dr. James Andrews:

A great surgeon is like a great athlete — with extraordinary physical skills, exceptional powers of concentration, an ability to work through adversity and embrace, not shrink from, a challenge. All of that describes James Rheuben Andrews, 65, who has been patching up athletes for nearly as long as Joe Paterno has been coaching Penn State and is still at the top of his game.

The second coming of Hay Zeus. Allopathic idolatry at its best.

That man’s wife is a saint. Why did she barely get a mention in the article?? Also, I don’t know if he has any children but I hope not. They probably never saw him.

I guess I’m just bitter…it sucks that female docs just do not have the same career options as men. I mean, technically, we DO. But, really, how many women could stand to birth a baby and then abandon it for decades while pursuing personal career success? Hmm. I don’t even know if Dr. Andrews has kids and I am not taking anything away from his work. Just bitching. It’s been a long day…
