A chef and his tongue

A star chef has cancer of the tongue. Instead of the standard treatment of cutting out part of the tongue, he’s opted for more unconventional treatment.

It is interesting that the Wall Street Journal Blog states that chemoradiation with Erbitux is unconventional therapy for a stage 4B Squamous cell of the tongue. At present, it is the conventional therapy and surgery is used for salvage in most cases.

For tumors of lesser stage, some still do partial glossectomy but it depends on the position of the tumor.
