Labor day and resident physicians
Dr. Val thinks about the hardworking residents working this upcoming Labor Day weekend:Physicians work for 3-7 years after graduating from medical school, and are paid (on average) about the equivalent of a home health aide or a medical secretary but work about twice the hours during residency. In fact, if you calculate out the salary by the hours they work, resident physicians are paid about $9 -$10/hour which is roughly $1.50 more than minimum wage.

And then for the rest of their careers they make enough to buy multiple Ferraris. Physicians have the power to change the system if they wished. They could create a tax upon themselves and increase resident pay.
Boy, I am really looking forward to that ferrari thing. Just how do I go about getting one of those.
I shouldn't vent, I am post call and have been up all night taking care of several illegal immigrants who were in a MVA.
I think n14 should be allowed the opportunity to spend several nights in the ER to understand just what is going on. Right now, my tax rate is about 40%. That is to say 40% of the patients seen will never pay a cent. How does that compare with n14s business?
For what its worth, we dont have any physicians with Ferraris in town. Most drive pickup trucks. Now, the trial attorneys in town have nice cars, one in fact collects Porsches.
