I do NOT think that Restless Legs Syndrome is "bogus"

August 28, 2007

It has come to my attention that I was quoted in this article regarding Restless Legs Syndrome:

Medical blogger Kevin Pho calls Restless Legs Syndrome “bogus” on his popular Web site (www.kevinmd.com/blog), saying the label was created to sell drugs to people who don’t need them.

The source seems to come from this post, where you can clearly see I quoted another blog that made the claim.

I have contacted Aimee Heckel, the writer of the article for a correction.

For the record, Restless Legs Syndrome is most definitely real, although the pathology of primary idiopathic RLS is unknown. It can affect 5 to 15 percent of the population. There are a variety of treatment options, all of which should be discussed with your personal physician.
