Something that the single-payer supporters forget – many Americans don’t support it and single-payer initiatives have been regularly defeated on the ballots.
Many Americans are used to top-flight, “all-you-can-eat” health care. Whether they will support anything less is in question:
Many Americans do get the Mercedes-Benz of health care. But given the scarcity of resources, they may be doing so at the expense of many others. Ultimately, we will need to find a middle option — providing all Americans with the health care equivalent of a Prius, a vehicle that will take efficiently to where you need to go and is affordable enough that nobody will have to walk.
Whether Americans will get a Prius if single-payer goes through is debatable. Some think that they may get stuck with a Yugo.

“Many Americans are used to top-flight, “all-you-can-eat” health care. “
“Many Americans?” That is a generic throw away if ever I’ve heard one. Many Americans believe that the Earth is hollow.
People aren’t complete idiots. They know that the “Mangaged” in “Managed Care” often means people don’t get “all they can eat.” People just hope the person who gets denied won’t be themselves or a family member.
“Ultimately, we will need to find a middle option -”
Only if we are a bunch of collectivist ants with no individualism or personal freedom. How about you find your option and I’ll find mine.
No matter how much freedom you give up for healthcare . . . you are still going to die.
I’d be happy to have the Prius. Prius feels Mercedes-Benz when you’ve been limping along on foot.

hahahahaha. LOVE IT!!!
Anyway, we are already paying for elderly helathcare (i.e. medicare), so I’m used to it.
Al Gore’s son went for the Prius.
And he was in posession of the (non-prescribed) prescription controlled substances to prove he liked Prius medicine.
