Clogging the ER

Scalpel on flow-stoppers:
Any patient who requires an interpreter, any time-consuming procedure, patients who are overly demanding, patients with numerous concerned and annoying relatives, patients who want to be admitted but don't need to be, patients who need to be admitted but don't want to be, patients requiring more than one or two calls to other physicians, and so on.

Comments:
Sounds like he wants an orderly system. Disease, however, is all about entropy, no order. Needs to remind himself of that.

Why is this man even a doctor? He hates all patients and should not even be in medicine.

He is not in medicine. He is a glorified triage nurse.

Scalpel is right about all of these. He doesn't hate patients. He hates wasting time. People dont come to the emergency room for relaxed, lengthy sessions with a priamry. The patients OUGHT to be as eager to get on with it as he is. How else do you expect him to keep up the energy seeing FORTY or more aptients in 12 hours??? (with little time to eat).

Why should a patient not speak English? Why should he have to deal with annoying family members? Why should he have to argue with patients who disagree with his judgement, when they sought it in the first place???

I repeat: ITS AN EMERGENCY ROOM! Let him treat the emergency.

Save the other crap for a primary (like me. HA)
