As if the surgical instruments and other sharp objects wouldn’t be enough, patients now bring in their own blades…I like the link – thanks for the heads-up.

There’s another form of violent interaction that occurs over the phone in telephone triage. Cuts across all strata of society, as if talking on the phone gives one license to scream, use profanity, imply the nurse is incompetent, have a tone of entitlement to beat the band, demand many uneccessary treatments and studies “because I have insurance,” refuse assessment or recommendations (why in the world call??). There have been a few, not many, who deserve to be booted out of the office for good.
